A mega-trend in interior design, referring to green integration in homes – plants, furniture made of raw materials, and energy-efficient interior designs. With most of the world’s population having stayed at home in the last year, the desire to go outside and get closer to nature is higher than ever; therefore, this trend that was on the rise since late 2018 boomed in 2020.
The Biophilic trend is a continuation of the popular Green Architecture Movement, which emerged in the mid-‘90s through the early 2000s. This movement created a wide variety of buildings that were both environmentally friendly and energy-efficient.
By 2050, 68% of the world’s population are predicted to live in urban areas.
As we grow more removed from nature, the Biophilic trend will remain and evolve over the coming years, keeping us closer to nature’s counterbalance.
